The earliest known ancestors of Anna Maria Klasen are found in the Church records at Lockweiler, which record the marriage of Matthias Klasen and Maria Clöser on January 13, 17464. Their marriage record shows that Matthias was the son of Peter Clasen and that Maria was the daughter of Johann Clöser.
Matthias came from the village of Wedern, which lies a few miles west of Lockweiler and just north of the district seat of Wadern. After their marriage, Matthias and Maria settled in Krettnich, where they raised their family. Matthias died in Krettnich on June 7, 17854, and Maria died there on November 13, 17694.
Matthias and Maria had the following children:

Following the death of his first wife, Matthias married Maria Meerfeld on July 24, 17704, the daughter of Nicolaus Meerfeld and Margaretha Schmidt.

Johann Klasen was baptized on December 8, 17494, the first child of Matthias Klasen and Maria Clöser, from the village of Krettnich. On February 9, 1773, he married Maria Apollonia Wirschem, the daughter of Johann Peter Wirschem and Maria Kirsch. Apollonia was born on March 24, 18504. Johann and Apollonia lived in Krettnich, where he died on July 6, 18024. Apollonia died on December 9, 18204.

Peter Klasen was baptized on February 26, 1781,4 the fifth child of Johann Klasen and Maria Apollonia Wirschem. Note the early spelling of the Wirschem name; Wergen. On February 9, 18074, Peter married Anna Maria Hardt, the daughter of Peter Hardt and Barbara Betzold. Anna Maria was born on March 26, 17834, at Nuhweiler. Peter and Anna Maria settled in the tiny hamlet of Nuhweiler, apparently living on her family's farm. Their four children were all born in Nuhweiler, according to the church records. However, Anna Maria died in Lockweiler on March 14, 18144, shortly after the birth of her last child.
