Philip H. Greff was born on September 24, 18772, in Bennington, New York, the third child of Philip Greff and Anna Maria Zehler.  Philip's first few years were spent on the family farm in Bennington.  Then, about 1881, his family moved to Attica, New York188, where he likely attended the local school.  Finally, in 1891, after the death of her father, the family moved to Warsaw, New York.  In 1900, Philip was living with his mother and two siblings and working as a bookkeeper143.  In 1910, Philip was still living in Warsaw in a local boarding house, and working as a clerk for a salt company144.  He would work in the salt industry for the remainder of his career.

Shortly after 1910, Philip moved to Ithaca New York, where he again worked as a clerk for a salt company40.  However, he soon moved to Scranton, Pennsylvania.  There he met and, in April 1916, married Bertha Fellows.  Bertha was born in May 1884198, in Scranton Pennsylvania, the daughter of George Fellows and Hannah Weaver40.  Philip and Bertha settled in Scranton, where Philip continued to work in the salt industry.  His job is listed as clerk in the 1920199 and 1930200 U.S. Census and in the 1938 Scranton City Directory.  In Scranton, Philip worked for the International Salt Company, eventually rising to the position of Purchasing Agent201.

Philip retired from the salt business about 1949.  He and Bertha continued to live in Scranton until 1962, when they moved to Rochester, New York, to be close to their daughter.  Bertha died there in October 1968201, and Philip died in Rochester on October 3, 1969201.

i. Louise Greff Louise was born on November 19, 192040, and she died on March 25 199940.  Louise married Clinton Creveling Snyder.

Louise Greff

Louise Greff was born on November 19, 192018, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, the child of Philip Greff and Bertha Fellows.  Louise received her elementary and secondary education is Scranton, before attending Wellsley College in Wellsley, Massachusetts.  She graduated with a BS in Chemistry in 194240.  Following graduation, she was employed by DuPont Corporation, at their Wyandotte, Michigan facility, until her marriage in 194340.

On September 4, 194340 she married Clinton Creveling Snynder, in Scranton.  Clinton was born on February 25, 191818, also in Scranton, the son of Edwin Milnes Snyder and Rebecca Parish Saxe.  After his elementary and secondary education, Clinton attended Lehigh University, graduating in 194140.  After serving in the U.S. Navy for four years, Clinton was employed by Eastman Kodak Company as an engineer40.  Clinton worked at Kodak for 43 years, and retired about 197940.  Clinton and Louise lived in Rochester, New York, where they raised a family of three girls.

Louise died on March 25, 199918, and Clinton died on May 23, 200118.
