Cabahug Population in 1900
To access the population of Cabahug families near the end of the
19th century, we chose to analyze marriages recorded in the Civil Register for the
year 1922 to 1932. These records not only record the date of the marriage and age of the
spouses, but also where they were born. Our assumption is that the number of Cabahug
spouses, who were born in the Town/City of their marriage, will give an approximate indication
of the population of Cabahug families in that Town/City near the end of the 19th
century.
These records are preserved in the Philippine National Archives and cover almost all cities and
towns in the Philippines. While the 1922 - 1932 records may have some gaps or missing
pages, in most cases they provide substantial coverage of this period. Further, at the time
of our study these records were available in digital form on the Internet at FamilySearch. The records have since been restricted and
some have been removed from the web site.
The first column gives the Town or City where the marriage took place. The second
column of the table shows the number marriages in which one parent of the bride or
groom was a Cabahug. The third column gives the number of the Cabahug children
(brides and grooms) who were born in the town where they were married. A comment is
included for those cases where any birthplace(s) is not the same as the place of marriage.
