Dee and Mary Blakely - 1941
Mary Olive Dye was born on February 20, 1875, in East Hamburg, New York, the first child of William Dye and Lydia Needham34. Her first few years were spent on their farm in East Hamburg (now Eden). However, her family soon moved to the Town of Concord, New York, where her parents had purchased a farm. On February 19, 1902, Mary married Dee A. Blakely14. Dee was born on February 24, 187034, the son of Ansel Blakely and Caroline Adams.
Dee and Mary initially settled on a rented farm in Boston, New York43. Dee's father and step-mother lived with them on the farm, where their first three children were born. Dee and Mary soon moved to a farm Carpenter Road in Eden, New York, which they purchased with a mortgage44. The family continued to live on this farm until about 194045. Interestingly, the 1940 Census lists Mary Blakely living on the Hamburg-Springville Road in Boston46 and also living with Dee on Carpenter road in Eden45. The Census does not list an occupation for Dee, indicating he had retired from farming. Frther, the information also suggests that they were in the process of moving to Boston.
Dee and Mary lived in Boston for the remainder of their lives. Dee died there on June 16, 194834, and Mary died on January 14, 195834.
