João Zoehler - Margarida Lenz
Church Marriage, September 18, 1862
Johann Zoehler was born at Oberlöstern on December 13, 18355, the son of Johann Zoehler and Elisabetha Schuh. His first ten and a half years were spent with his parents in the Saar region of Prussia, first at Oberlöstern and later at Mettnich. In 1846, he accompanied his parents to Brazil, where they settled in the small village of Walachei in the municipality of Morro Reuter. In Brazil he was known as João Zoehler.
On September 18, 1862, João married Margarida Lenz in a church ceremony304. Margarida was the daughter of Jacobo Lenz and Anna Magdalena Hantzmann. Unfortunately, Margarida died on December 4, 1878 at the age of 37304.

Following the death of his first wife, João married Elisabetha Bickell, on August 11, 1880, in a church ceremony304. Elisabetha was the daughter of Henrique Bickell and Agnes Feiten.304
João Zoehler died on June 20, 1909, at the age of 74.

Note on Bertha Zoehler: Bertha was the illegitimate daughter of Elisabetha Bickell, prior to her marriage to João Zoehler304. In turn, Bertha gave birth to a daughter on January 23, 1896 prior to her marriage to Pedro Kaefer on April 17, 1899304. Bertha's daughter is recorded as Maria Zoehler on her baptismal record304. As recorded in a side note, Bertha insisted that her surname should be Bickell304.
Antonio Zoehler was born on October 29, 1868304, the son of João Zoehler and Margarita Lenz. On February 4, 1893, he married Elisabetha Becker.
The known child of Antonio and Elisabetha is:

João Zoehler, Jr was born on August 24, 1873304, the son of João Zoehler and Margarida Lenz. On January 24, 1909, he married Anna Kroetz in a Civil Ceremony303. Anna was born on August 25, 1878, the daughter of Theodoro Kroetz and Catharina Mudler303.

Note: The date of Maria Teresia's birth comes from her death record and that of Maria Joana comes from her birth record. A faulty memory in the former case likely accounts for impossible closeness of the births.
Mathias Muck - Leopoldina Zoehler
Church Marriage, April 7, 1907
Leopoldina Zoehler was born on June 25, 1885304, the daughter of João Zoehler and Elisabetha Bickell. As seen above, she married Mathias Muck on April 7, 1907, in a church ceremony304. Mathias was born on June 11, 1884, the son of José Muck and Dorothea Dilkin304.
Mathias Muck died on January 6, 1919, age 34, of influenza303. The record states that he had six children303.

On October 31, 1912, after the birth of their first three children, Mathias and Leopoldina appeared before the Civil Registrar for the district of Dois Irmãos, to request a Civil marriage. This was necessary, since the Brazilian Government does not recognize Church marriages as legal. In their testimony, Leopoldina stated that she already had three children. They were recorded as "natural" children, meaning they were illegitimate in the eyes of the State. Mathias admitted he was the father and requested that they be made his legal heirs. After Mathias and Leopoldina read a section of the Law, the Registrar performed a Civil Ceremony and Mathias' request was granted.
Jorge Zoehler was born on August 10, 1887304, the son of João Zoehler and Elisabetha Bickell. On May 16, 1913, he married Carolina Kasper in a Civil Ceremony303. Caroline was born on December 25, 1902, the daughter of Pedro Kasper and Maria Dapper303. Jorge and Carolina were later married in a church ceremony on January 27, 1913304.

Maria Francisca Zoehler was born on December 1, 1892304, the daughter of João Zoehler and Elisabetha Bickell. On June 20, 1914, she married Antonio Henke in a Civil Ceremony 303. Antonio was born on October 12, 1887, the son of Carlos Henke and Josephina Breyer303.
Atonio died on March14, 1962, at the age of 74303, and Maria Francisca died on June 16, 1968, at the age of 75303. Both died of a stroke. They were buried in the Catholic Cemetery of Gramado, a town just northeast of Morro Reuter.
