John Ferdinand Faulring was born on September 4, 18734, in the Town of Concord, New York, the 4th child of Casper and Barbara Faulring.  He grew up on the family farm in the Town of Concord, probably the farm of his grandfather and father, located on Emerling road.  In 1900, Ferd was single and operating a farm jointly with his brother, Christ, also in the Town of Concord, probably on Trevett road27

On November 14, 1901, Ferd married Clara Magdalena Klein at St. Paul's Evangelical Church in Boston.  Clara was born on January 14, 1874.  Ferd and Clara continued to live on the farm on Trevett road, although he was now employed as a carpenter.  Either Ferd continued to operate the farm or rented the land to another farmer.  In 1915, Ferd and Clara purchased a house in Boston, New York, on Colden road (now Boston Cross Road)7  Located a short distance east of the Catholic Church, this house was later purchased by Lyle and Ethel Zahler, where their family grew up.  Ferd continued to work as an accomplished carpenter, as indicated by the desk in the accompanying picture.  The desk remains a valued possession in the Zahler family.

Ferd died on January 31, 192310, and is buried in St. Paul's cemetery, now Faith United Church of Christ cemetery.  Ferd and Clara had no children.

After Ferd's death, Clara married Edward Ehman, a first cousin of Ferd and son of John Ehman and Barbara Faulring.  Clara died on May 6, 193710, and is buried next to her first husband.
